Following the fire that destroyed most of the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, Alec was called upon to restore the historic images collection from old and badly damaged negatives and prints. Following high resolution scanning, most images were enlarged up to 6 feet x 4 feet, and restoration began. Also reproduced after the fire were sponsor and manufacturers panels, and a special exhibit made about the fire. The work had to be completed on a very tight timescale at the end of which over 200 new, fully restored exhibition panels were produced, on time and within budget.

Photographed on a grey day the lamp post could not be avoided. It was retouched out later and blue skies and contrast added to make the best of this image.

Damage is repaired, but we leave a little of the aging in old photographs to maintain their character.
